category: Trainings

Summary of online training event (15th–26th of February 2021).

The 2nd Network Wide Event (NWE) was organized by University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Ljubljana. Due to restrictions related to Covid19 situation, the organizers decided to follow good practice from the 1st NWE and organized it with help of online tools, 15th–26th of February 2021.

All 12 Early Stage Researchers (ESRs) were invited, including beneficiary members and partner organizations (TOTAL-Sandvik-Oerlikon-Volvo-Vattenfall-SKF-Cummins Turbo Tech.-Hauzer-Huf-Portuguesa-Univ. of Minho-Univ. of Southampton-Czech Tech. Univ. in Prague-Inst. P. Nunes-TEandM-Quercus-Ducom Inst. -AdvaMat-et. al.), who had a unique chance to introduce themselves, particularly their interest in the GreenTRIBOS project. This online event enabled ESRs to present their role in the MSCA project and the state-of-the-art of their individual research projects were presented for the first time. Mini-projects, defined in the frame of the 1st NWE, required the teamwork of four ESRs, who were working on it and presented the outcome at the 2nd NWE. The topics of mini-projects covered:

-Minimizing Energy Consumption with focus on friction

-Minimising Resource Depletion with focus on wear

-Minimising Polluting Emissions with focus on resources

Presentations triggered fruitful discussions between ESRs, supervisors, and the widely experienced researchers from the industry background. The 2nd NWE offered the transferable skills and academic training. Several meetings related to the management of the project were organized and all the Committees have met and made required actions of their own topics.

Overall, the meeting was successful and fruitful. Special thanks go to all ESRs who did a great job and put a lot of effort in preparing thorough and clearly understandable presentations with their results. In addition, it was a pleasure to have so many project partners by side, with whom the discussions would not be so valuable.

We are looking forward to the next, the 3rd NWE, which will be organized by the University of Coimbra, hopefully in Portugal.
